overcast

Post by davidh » Wed Oct 14, 2009 9:12 am

Attached is an overcast image rendered with a hdri image in "hemispherical sky" and preset 8 for 5 hours.Sunlight was disabled to remove all harsh shadows and the scene was then post processed in photoshop.Im happy with the stone but I think the timber is flat and needs more work.

Nice render! But i.m.o. the DOF makes it feel like a scale model a bit.

I think this is an awesome image, I would love to see the raw image as you have integrated the photo so seamless. :^:

thanks for the comments guys.
Solo, attached is the original image from twilight unprocessed and I have also uploaded the processed image with foreground blur removed.
I use a LOT of post processing in all my 3d images, sometimes its like the fun dosent start until the image is rendered out and I can start changing things!

Looks nice without the DOF effect. I believe if you warmed up the Twilight output a little, the two elements would mesh better.

beautyful render! the concept overcast is good - a very common theme one should think, but seldomly chosen for renders...
I like them both, with and without DOF. Maybe the foreground plants do not match because they were shot on a sunny day?
Why not try some "overcast-manipulation" on them in PS?

David, what is your method for blending the grass against the building so you do not get the harsh edges.
Is this a mask and then a brush?

Nice render.

Hi Dylan,
I usually use the clone brush as this allows the copied image to bleed slightly against the background. You often end up with a slight blur at the edge as in this image but it helps to marry the 2 images.
