Twilight Render User Forum

Anybody having any success with scatter in Twilight?
I am having no trouble with simple test scenes so I'm sure I have the various settings right. But when I try to render a largish scene, (about 107000 grass objects) Twilight seems to get stuck 'Initializing Meshes'. If I give up after 15 mins or so and try to cancel the render, Sketchup locks up the whole computer and it's back to cntrl, alt, delete again. This is on Preset 01 btw.
My puter is pretty good, lots of ram, mid-range graphics card, 4 core i5 cpu.

Or are 107000 objects just too much?
I would like to see some twilight renders with scatter if you could point me at any?

An image with that many objects should really only be rendered using Interior/Interior+ (unbiased).

Also, you may notice that the materials that Skatter uses usually use translucency; this is a pretty slow render method (though it can produce the most realistic results) so you may be better off changing it to a shiny plastic template.

Easy 08 for exteriors (lit with sun and sky) with Scatter is the fastest render setting and works well in our testing.

Thanks Fletch. Be good if there were some guides out there. I don't know how a newbie like me is supposed to know this stuff.
Nothing about this on Sketchuducation, Skatter manual and until now Twilight. Very frustrating working in the dark, or twilight

I'm trying to build "my own" vertical ivy walls...
In the exercise below I use leafs from the Twilight Red Carpet Club (which I've updated for the latest editions of SketchUp and Twilight), spread with Skatter, all renderings in Easy 08.
Switching from the original leaf templates (2 min) to plastic (6 min) and back to Twilight Legacy templates (3 min).

Hardly any difference between these pictures...
