@Edward: Sorry, I mixed them up, as my Dutch is... well, I can't read Dutch at all.

@Pentti: Years ago my most painful waiting time were when opening 3dsmax files that contained radiosity meshes... files as large as 500MB. Also, opening 3dsmax itself required a visit to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. But now that I use SketchUp with Twilight, both very lightweight compared to max, I don't really have to wait for neither programs nor files to load. Thanks for your recommendation of using external backups. I think I'll start a new thread about backups.

Some say there are no stupid questions. I'm in the habit of proving those people wrong.

Just jumped to SSD bandwagon too, nice speed :) Intel X25-M G2 gives 7,7 for HD score (Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit).

I too have the Intel X25. From what I have read they are the ones to go with - though there are a few that are cheaper. I'd rather go with reliable than cheaper.

Not sure what to recommend, X25 was a only good available here (I was originally looking for OCZ Vertex). Don't get a SSD without a TRIM feature. I'd say 80Gb is minimum size for SSD for practical reasons, if you have Win 7 (or vista) and you better locate user files, temp and so to a HDD. When you install all generally used programs about 35-40Gb will be used on system drive.
Remember to turn AHCI on in system bios, if it's not turned on by default. You can do that also after installing windows. You will gain a 2-3x improvement in small file access.

Yeah - definitely - I have my My Docs all going to a 1.5TB drive to keep it as clean as possible - only programs on my SSD.
My secondary drive is a Velociraptor 10k rpm for a swap drive for duties like Photoshop.
