Windows 7 Performance Index (Post you scores)

Post by WardNL » Thu Oct 22, 2009 8:14 pm

Just picked up Windows 7 64 bit. I wonder how Win 7 will hold up against XP and Vista...

Apart from some minor issues Win 7 looks and feels solid. I'm also happy that I can finally use my 8gb!
(Prob are Google Earth's 3d models are not showing up properly and i've got some issues with my Sweex wireless device. Probably some driver issues.)

Anyways, I found a cool benchmark tool, please post your performance score here so we can compare specs.

Apparently my graphic processor sucks...

Yup you are only as good as your lowest score, I see your GPU lets your system down.

Windows Vista has 5.9 as the highest benchmark, I see 7 has a 1-10 (or 7)

These scores are given between 1,0 and 7,9.

Solo, you passed the Worm test in 12 sec right? You must have a monster setup... :rspkt:

Win 7s scale is from 1 - 7,9

I read an article that new PCs will be equipped with Windows 7 starting today. I wonder if that's true...?

Could be. We got Win7 discs (at the work) some weeks ago, still had got no time to switch from RC to release version.

My motherboard is equipped with a Nvidia GeForce 8200 chip...
Let's say I install a better GeForce card, like the 9800 for example. Will that boast the TR performance as well?

No, Twilight Render does not use the graphics card.

Thanks Miguel!
In that case I do not need a new card! 8-)

I know what is going on here: I had to copy all my stuff to the system drive before formatting the data drive, and that is why there is so little space left there, thus giving the lowest score for the main hard drive. Weird: The Windows 7 upgrade advisor said my graphics card could not run Aero, but this test seems to say I can. Perhaps I should activate it.

UPDATE: I cleaned up the system drive, but the score is still the same. Seems like it's time to upgrade the good old Western Digital. I'm open to recommendations for fast hard drives.
