Seamless Textures with Photoshop Plugins

Post by Fletch » Sat Nov 06, 2010 12:46 pm

The best way to make a high quality seamless texture in photoshop is to offset (with "wrap image") the image by half the dimension of the image.
Then, paint over the seam with the stamp tool.

If you do this often enough you will become frustrated how Photoshop's "Offset" plugin tool only allows you to choose exact pixel offset, and not simply a percentage of the image, like "50%" to just offset the image by half.

There's a great little set of free "simple" plugins for photoshop that aid in creating seamlessly tiling textures. But mainly, I would download it for the "Half Offset" plugin. See the examples given and decide for yourself if it may be useful in your workflow.
