Infinite Ground Plane

Post by jjcon1 » Wed Nov 11, 2015 6:12 pm

I read that there was an infinite ground plane added in version 2. I'm currently on version 2.4.6 but when I go to Extensions --> Twilight Render v2 there is no sub menu for objects as the forum post states is the way to get to the ground plane function. Am I missing something or is there another way to get there?

Thanks.

Objects available are:
Section Plane
Section Sphere
Section Cylinder
Section Cube
Infinite Plane

You will need to have Twilight V2 Pro in order to use these objects.

I have been experimenting with the TWR section tools. I pretty much have them all figured out except the Infinite Plane. The others are pretty straight forward and do not really need any explanation. However, the Infinite Plane is still a little bit of a mystery to me. Is there some place where I can go read or watch a video to learn how to use it correctly?

BTW: I love the fact that for the Sphere, Cylinder, and Cube you can control the size of the section cut. There are times when I think that feature can be used to "cut a whole" to view inside something more precisely than using a plane.

infinite plane does not cut a section.
Infinite plane is an object.
You place it in your scene as the proxy for the infinite ground plane. Wherever you place the small plane in your scene an infinite plane will appear there in your rendering. You can paint the plane with a texture, and that texture will be used on the infinite plane when it's rendered.
It's perfect for a quick car rendering when you just want to have some ground plane, for instance.

Thanks Fletch, I think this could be handy for me in some situations. Can this be used with something like the Animator plugin? My assumption is yes and that from your description, I could use it in any situation.
