glossy reflections

Post by bigvtapple » Thu Jan 28, 2010 8:34 pm

I need some help understanding how these glossy reflections work.

My wooden furniture and room trim are all the same material (wood texture with the paint:eggshell template applied). The render from above using only the sun gives great reflections, but a perspective in the room using tlr spot lights recessed in the ceiling creates blotchy reflections. My plastic and metal surfaces (tv and espresso machine) also give the same reflection in places. Help!

looks like you are rendering with low settings. must use Med.+ for good specular sampling (shininess from indirect light)

so it's just a matter of higher settings and longer render times to get a good result, or can i change lights or materials?

Try one of the presets in the "Alternative AA" folder. Most presets in that folder work great with fuzzy reflections. :P
