Re: Sideboard
after simply purging the file with Purgeall.rb it went from 17Mb to 2Mb.
If you need the tool, please let me know, it's free, and I linked it from this forum several times...
This Medium+UltraAA took 54m to render on corei7 2.66mhz, so, yes, it's not the speediest of settings.

Re: Sideboard
also, low+high seems reasonable ...Use the PurgeAll.rb ruby script by the great "TIG" to eliminate unwanted materials and components from the model. After you delete all visible instances of a component, it still resides in the model's "memory" until it is purged.

Re: Sideboard
Thanks a lot Fletch. Now to understand: What makes it? Do i delete some not visible geometrie ore materials when applying this tool? Is it in any way dangerous to use? What do i have to know about it, how works it?

Re: Sideboard
It Purges all UNUSED Components, Layers, Materials, Styles.
When you delete any component from your scene, it remains in SketchUp's "background" memory somewhere.
Same thing happens when you delete a Layer, Material, or Scene Style... in case you want to use it again later.
If you are confident you don't need that entity (component, or material), simply run Purgeall.rb and it will remove it from your scene. Then save the scene. Done. This is why your scene went from 17Mb to 2Mb... it deleted about 15 components and about 15 materials.
It can only hurt you if you were 'saving' one of these erased components or materials for later usage. If you are, just don't purge that entity type. The dialog allows you to choose what will be purged and what will remain.
