Music

Post by flipya » Mon Mar 08, 2010 11:52 am

Hi guys, this has nothing to do with rendering, modelling or whatever. Well maybe just a teeny tiny bit cos I'm looking for music for a movie my friend is planning (he´s a director) and there's gonna be a little cgi in that movie

Anyway, here is a song by a Dutch singer-songwriter that is currently used in a commercial for an insurancecompany. It catches the vibe I´m looking for. Not necessarily the lyrics, more the voice, oldskool piano backing and overall feel of the song.

Does anyone know of any songs or artists that have the same ´feel´ or ´vibe´? Maybe some commercial or moviesoundtrack? Male or female singer, 50s or contemporary. I'm not picky, just looking for as much input as I can to narrow my search down a little...

Again, I know this forum isn't the most obvious place to ask something like this, but never hurts to try I suppose

Thanks!

You can find music available for commercial licensing here:
http://www.productiontrax.com
It's all well organized and the license fees seem reasonable.

Thanks Miguel, I'll check it out.

But (I don't mean to be rude, just assuming I've missed an option there) how on earth do I find a song there that has the same feel as the one I posted?

I wish http://www.pandora.com was accessible from here :(

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/top-10-fre ... sic-online (discovered via stumbleupon.com)

A less flashy alternative to TuneGlue is Music-Map. While TuneGlue only initially suggests 6 similar artists, Music-Map instantly reveals all the similar artists in their database, with the most similar musicians closest to the original search term.
...Music Roamer adds another dimension to music map sites, by not only providing suggestions of similar artists, but also allowing you to listen to music directly on their site. The songs are powered by YouTube videos, but it should be said, in our experience, all of the tracks were live versions, and not always of very good quality. They also provide links to purchase the mp3s from Amazon.

Just found this one hours ago:

http://freemusicarchive.org/

It's music licensed under Creative Commons-type licenses. Check each track's page to see what you can and can't do with it.
