Post by tomsdesk » Tue Mar 16, 2010 9:09 pm

...the leaves on the ground didn't work well, but I'm pretty happy with the rest (new trees and sky again): C&C please?

pretty incredible render, there, Tom... you really have got some render skills!

critique... the only thing bringing it down for me is the porch light seems overly bright, and maybe the van is too SU-looking... but it looks good in the D.W.C.! (leaves on ground work in the D.W.C. as well!

Another Great one Tom! :gj:

You have taken your DWC style to another level - there is such a wonderful color range here and depth to the image. I hope you don't mind, but there are a couple of items that stand out to me now that your work is reaching another level. Please take it as constructive criticism, and please feel free to completely ignore as it is just my opinion.

Fletch already mentioned the burn-out of the porch light -just a little too bright for a daytime image. The other general comment I have is that the people and cars do not translate well into the dwc style. I know it isn't easy to do - but something a little more detailed for the vehicles, and maybe a little looser (less hard edges) for the poeple would help. OK - the last thing is strictly my eyes telling me this - so it is a "feel" kinda thing that is pure opinion. The color / light / shadow of the side wall above the porch (with the great window and reflection) and the entire front wall (facing the parking lot) are just absolutely perfect in the straight TwiR image. If you could somehow bring some of the detail of that portion back into the DWC - I think it would be stunning.

Great work here Tom - I imagined myself in the image on a lightly crisp early fall day after a storm. I would take a break and bask in the late afternoon sun - if only I could find a place to sit? :!

looks great tom. you pretty much perfected this style!

only crits i could possibly add are: light under porch too intense. delete the linework that you can still see through the car window (unless that was intentional!) and maybe screen the image a little as you rarely get watercolours as deep and as saturated as this.

cheers
Oli

Regardless of any comments the colours are really nice....yummy....The renders are not photorealistic but they are very attractive. :^:

Thanks again, Guys...Dean: I see what you mean (you too Oli) and toned down the intensity and added some of the render back into the center of the image. Also took another render and toned down the porch light with success...next down day I'm gonna go searching for peeps and cars with a little more detail. The DWC of the new render isn't quite as "the gloomy is about over" as I intended, so will redo when I get the chance. More of this very helpfull C&C please...!?!
