If you mean to make the background blurry as in this image, and to focus on the subject of the statue, this is known as "DOF" (Depth of Field) You can read about it in the user manual.
...
  1. create a scene in SU (a scene tab, you know, a camera)
  2. use the View Tool on the Twilight toolbar, and Ctrl-Click a point to focus on.
  3. now update the scene tab (don't click it! just right-click the tab and choose "update")
  4. now open the render dialog
  5. on the camera tab :!: inside the render dialog you will see "F-number" choice. The higher the F-number the less blurry... so choose something around the "2.8" range.
  6. now render.
