st johns
this is a project through work that i've taken the model and ran with...
lots of credit to the twilight team for the software and help in the forums
some credit to solo as well for giving me the idea to make the render it a bit more ominous
questions, comments, and critique are welcome

I really like this image!
I would perhaps do a bit of tonemapping (playing with the contrast/lightness/etc.) of the rendering... but I think it has a great "feel" to it! (if you have photoshop, try the "Shadow/Highlight" feature) In Gimp (free) or Picasa (free) there's also a similar function.
Thanks for sharing!

ramy, thanks. i'm trying to get it lit only with daylight - there are lights up in the front of the church but they aren't turned on.
fletch, thanks for the tip. just by clicking the shadow/highlight it drastically changed my image. i'm pulling out the ol' PS reference manual now to better figure this tool out.

the Shadow/Highlight tool in PS will default to "50" on the shadow slider.
make sure the Highlight slider is at Zero!
set shadow slider to 18... somewhere betwee 15 to 25.

Very nice, I like it. The skylight is a nice architectural addition that looks great on the render as well. Have you considered a spotlight (far) above it to accentuate the effect a little more, or does that kill the atmosphere?
I'm curious about the project, is it to-be-built, or an alteration of an existing structure?
Single point of critique is the linework-to-render thing. Somehow feels out of place here. Just my personal taste of course.

Some say there are no stupid questions. I'm in the habit of proving those people wrong.

flipya, these renders are a little more descriptive. it's mostly a cosmic renovation but the alter area is going to completely rebuilt. the church is awesome already - the original architect did i great job - classic yet with a modern touch in the skylight.
when you say put a spotlight above do you mean "outside" of the model or up in the ceiling of the model?

i'll give it a shot. i used the sky portals on the skylight and windows. does anyone know if those work with outside spotlights?

sky portals work fastest/best with least number of faces as possible.
sure they work w/ spots (or should) but have never tried this.
