How to Modify Twilight Render Setting

Post by Fletch » Mon Sep 20, 2010 9:28 am

Perhaps you have tried rendering a file with High+ render setting, but the file will not render (this is because you are running out of RAM to hold the photon map)
If you have tried reducing the file size by changing any large textures or image files to be lower resolution, and it still will not render...
Then perhaps this tip will help...

Using Windows Explorer find the folder:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 7\Plugins\Twilight\RenderSettings\Express\1) Easy
copy the file:
"1) Easy\07. High+.xml"
paste the file here:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 7\Plugins\Twilight\RenderSettings\Express\3) Custom
Using Windows Notepad,
Open the new setting, and find where it says:

Code: Select all

<Parameter Name="Samples per Light" Type="Integer" Value="100000"/>
change it to say

Code: Select all

<Parameter Name="Samples per Light" Type="Integer" Value="10000"/>
test render, if the image still won't render, try finding and changing this value:

Code: Select all

<Parameter Name="Final Gathering Rays" Type="Integer" Value="900"/>
to be

Code: Select all

<Parameter Name="Final Gathering Rays" Type="Integer" Value="450"/>
and try changing this value:

Code: Select all

<Parameter Name="Caustic Count" Type="Integer" Value="512"/>
to be

Code: Select all

<Parameter Name="Caustic Count" Type="Integer" Value="256"/>
and try changing this value:

Code: Select all

<Parameter Name="Max Photon Tracing Depth" Type="Integer" Value="7"/>
to this:

Code: Select all

<Parameter Name="Max Photon Tracing Depth" Type="Integer" Value="6"/>
