Okay I've read this threads,
http://twilightrender.com/phpBB3/viewto ... map#p10617
http://twilightrender.com/phpBB3/viewto ... onut#p2671
I want to show the cutting of my marble flooring from 60x60cm to make it more realistic.
Unfortunately, independent bump map cannot be scaled inside native TW,
and if SU needs the texture marble boundaries just to place and orient the bump maps then I'll be having a huge 1 tile of 60x60cm.
Unless, I will make 60x60cm tiling in ratio with the larger image.
This is a 10cmx10cm scanned image. If I'm going to use this as my material I'll be getting tiling pattern. (Marble veins has continuity)
The flooring I want to mimic is hundred times the size of this sample.
My questions are:
1) are there any other way to make a 60x60cm tiling inside SU & TW?
2) If I have the 2d Cad of the flooring pattern of the above floor image, can I use it to create tiling natively in SU and rendered it TW?
I've heard that TW can render lines and edges.
Regards
Biz.
Any other work flow for this.
Re: Any other work flow for this.
Basically, you would need to either model the tiles, or you would need to modify your texture file to be correctly sized to work with the bump map for a 60x60 tile.
Thankfully, either of these choices are fairly easy solutions (they look scarier when they are written out step-by-step).
One free way to quickly model tiles: Subject: [Plugin] Greeble 2 (note the sphere with the square tiles, or the tiles on the far left - you have the option to make them all the same height. ) Working with the texture method there are are a couple ways:
A) Very high resolution Custom Texture export from SU method:

A) Very high resolution Custom Texture export from SU method:
- export a (quite) high-res perfect plan view of the floor with the textures,
- export a (quite) high-res perfect plan view of the floor without the textures, only the edge lines from SU showing,
- develop your bump map texture with that image
- Crop both images to be the exact same size/resolution so they overlay one another perfectly
- then apply that high-resolution floor to your floor in SketchUp, and use the bump map you've created in the texture in Twilight.
- create a larger texture to apply to the floor that will not show the tiling pattern as easily. If you only have a 10x10 sample, you will need to use some skill in a photo editor to turn it into a larger (wider and higher) texture. So you will copy the tile you have next to itself in a, say, 6x6 (or however big you think you want to see it) matrix in Photoshop and use the stamp tool to fix the seams to make them disappear.
- then, create a bump texture that matches the resolution of the texture you have created
- apply the new marble texture to the floor in SketchUp
- use the new bump map in Twilight's material definition

Okay, thank you Fletch. I will try your brilliant workflow.
Darn, Mine, is very time consuming
