If you're happy, we're happy. :)
36s is MUCH better than 55s! 8 cores at 3.8Ghz seems like it should render faster. But perhaps the Intel Core i7 (which I presume do not work with your motherboard or you would have gotten one) are simply more efficient at rendering than these versions from AMD. 36s which is equivalent render time to stock corei7 920 at 2.66Ghz.

very nice. that would imply that the i7 in the laptop is more efficient today than the similar i7920 in a desktop from 2 years ago.

I just recently bought this Asus laptop:

I got a similar result as Gareth posted - 31 seconds. I love my new laptop and how well Twilight runs on it.

Thanks,

I can't tell you how excited I am to be able to post this ...

I've been using a decrepit old laptop for 2 years now. It was incredibly frustrating and I was getting nowhere with Twilight as everything was taking sooooo looooooooong. Anyway, I recently took the plunge and bought a new laptop. This test (after downloading SU and migrating my plugins) is the first thing I have done on it.

So, here goes!! ....

So was it worth getting excited about?!

The above is probably a stupid question. Thank-you for your patience.
