Spring inspiration...
Hi All,
I'm sure many of you will recognize this render from the frontpage of the KT Getting Started tutorial...
This time I've rendered it using Twilight...

Re: Spring inspiration...
Nice render, Frederik!
I would be interested to know what differences did you notice between the two programs.
For similar settings I found TWL to be a little faster than KT. Did you find the same difference?

Re: Spring inspiration...
Thanks, Dan...!
For this particular scene, I can't compare it...
Reason being that I didn't use the same materials for both scenes and in KT I had applied 3D trees and grass using the instancing brush, which always will lead to increased render times...
I've made some other tests though and can't find a difference in the render time if materials and other settings are identical...
However, what I really like about Twilight is the fact that you can make it all inside SketchUp...
In particular if you need to change something, add a little something, you don't need to re-export, re-apply materials etc...
Also - since all material, light and other settings are maintained, it's much easier to share the model with others...

Re: Spring inspiration...

I can share a great grass model for SU to use w/ Twilight... if you'd like to give it a shot w/ Didier's spray tool

I'm not shy at all, isn't it?

I can also share the model if anyone is interested in giving it a go...
(I will just need to remove some FormFont objects...)

Re: Spring inspiration...
Same scene but with a few adjustments...
Played with a 3D grass component, but it needs some tweaking before it's perfect...
As you can see there's repeating patterns in the grass...
Aaahhh well - you need to learn something everyday...

Re: Spring inspiration...
is this the one I shared? or yours?
you will find if you check in the scene I made "Exterior Pool" for the tutorial it has the grass component made in such a way that I scattered the components using Notareal's pinwheel technique he found... so there's no repeat pattern. so grab that chunk of grass and try that out.
then it's just a matter of taking care of the repeat tiling in the deck wood.

This is my own...Fletch wrote:is this the one I shared? or yours?
I've been playing around and will also have something to share with you guys soon...
You can see some of the tests I've made using this grass I'm working on in the Easter and spring time... thread...
I did some days ago, but I have similar repeating patterns and although your grass component is nice, I find mine looking better...Fletch wrote:so grab that chunk of grass and try that out.

I will be playing more with materials in this scene...
