Studio for car renders.

Post by Mike1158 » Thu Apr 25, 2019 11:47 am

G'day folks, I am afraid I am having a problem but, enough of that. Keeping the soft paper in the fridge helps.

With the studio found as part of the Ford Falcon thread I am finding good renders difficult to impossible which must be down to the way I am using it.

Anyone got any pointers?

Sorry Mike no answers for you.... but glad you posted this. Have done some "studio" tests with my Salt Racer model and finding it a challenge to get good dramatic lighting without harsh - unwanted reflections in the glass and on the cars body. Curious what the real wizards have to say.

Partial improvement but no there yet.

I increased the light from the emitters and removed sunlight. There is also an extra light (Streetlight).

Thanks to the studio and streetlight designers, much appreciated.

Placed a tarmac material on the floor and used the Twilight wet tarmac overlay from import library Thanks to the maker of that item too.

Just got back in from feeding the Badgers, part of my pain/stress management system. Getting a fully grown Badger to trust me enough to feed from my hand is one of those privileged moments I just get a huge amount from.

Well.. I think you should try increasing the exposure instead of the light strength. By just increasing the white lights they "overpower" the other fill lights (blue and orange) and your scene looks somewhat monochromatic and bland :!

I also found it looking better if you replace the emitter in the light stand in the back (what's the proper name for that?) with just some satin white material, and put a spot light shining into it instead. That recreates the way those work irl and seems to make for a bit softer lighting.

I haven't had too much time to mess around with this, but yeah good lightning can be tricky so keep trying and see what you get :D

Making my own studio, the previous is difficult to make lighter without it looking just plain wrong.

Someone has suggested a 3d render, as far as I know this is impossible.

Thanks Fletch, tweaking goes on. A bit like twitchers and Brexit. Darnit.
