Re: Focus and Blur back effect
you can do a second render with advanced tab - depth render.
You will get a black and white depth mask. looks like the attached image.
Then can can blur in photoshop whatever you want..
Your concept looks promissing and, of course, I like the tramway

DOF: V2 Tutorials Animated Snippets #DepthRender
If your goal is a quicker rendering but to create the DOF (blur depth of field) effect in post-pro,
- In Twilight Render, make a rendering without any DOF.
- Save this image. "render"
- Render again using the Tech>Specialized>Depth Render pass in the Technical render settings.
- Save this image "depth"
- (render this image at double the resolution for better quality depth render, then resize it to match rendered image in photo editor.)
- Open Photoshop >Open "render" image.
- Open "depth" image.
- Duplicate the "render" image to Layer1, and create a mask on that Layer1.
- Select all on the "Depth" image and CTRL-C copy that image
- Alt-click the Mask on Layer1 of the Render image, and now you should see all white mask.
- CTRL-V paste the depth render into that Mask.
- Filter>Distort>Lens and choose in the settings for the filter the source to be the "layer mask".
- Try changing the different blur settings.
