Lamps and light fixtures
Lamps and light fixtures
...been practicing quad modeling. Here I will place some work in progress. I look forward to sharing the components in the red carpet section when they are ready.
These were shot with the HDR shared here: Subject: Studio Setup for Furniture
If you are new to Twilight, the HDR comes as a preset in the Environment Dialog presets list.

Re: Lamps and light fixtures
The details of the light fixture and the renders look really good to me.
Re: Lamps and light fixtures
Marvelous mate, very nice job.
Re: Lamps and light fixtures
Quad modeling... humph, I just counted 103 triangular faces.
In your experience, when opening holes on surfaces do you think it helps if we give them more geometry for not to have those annoying "artifacts" when softening? And avoiding we add some coplar edges!?
Fletch or anyone!?
Thanks

Re: Lamps and light fixtures
nice 80ties- style
Re: Lamps and light fixtures
You will have to ask Alvydas - he's amazing in quads with SketchUp.posodrac wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 9:03 pm Quad modeling... humph, I just counted 103 triangular faces.

I actually have no idea how to build this model in SketchUp. I built it in Blender with an addon called Speedflow, I couldn't build it even in Blender without Speedflow. In Blender this whole model is 1Mb and completely parametric. Every shape and hole, even the curve and the flexible cable, can be re-sized or changed on the fly in an instant. The lady and the background screen built in SketchUp.

A new spotlight, inspired by another I saw today. This is an actual light by Hampton Bay

Re: Lamps and light fixtures
You don't need to go to Blender to do this.
It is "SketchUpable", even with the alpha texture for the holes
It's a cheap model... I mean cheap price
The manufacture didn't share the IES file huh!?

Re: Lamps and light fixtures
No doubt there are many with the SketchUp skills to build in SketchUp. It was material mapped and materials were all done with Twilight and even some in the deep editor.
Yes it's an affordable light, for sure. The idea was to find something l think people will use/need. Something that looks "common but modern".
If you have any light fixtures as suggestion for something everyone needs for their renderings, please share links in this thread.
