Hi,
I'm new to Twilight Render and I'm trying to do some test renders for the pool with water in it. I'm not necessary after something physically accurate and realistic. I just need the water to be translucent so that it reveals the pool tiles. I have tried the water material and glass, but no matter what I choose, I always end up with dark water surface.
The sketch up material transparency is 0%, but it still doesn't change much.
Any tips?
Water - Swimming Pool too dark
Re: Water - Swimming Pool too dark
disable "Cast Shadow" for pool water material.
Easy 09 will render all pool water a little dark.

Re: Water - Swimming Pool too dark
If you are using Twilight Pro, and apply the pool water to your pool, and don't apply any material template to that water - it should render perfectly for you - (with the exception of Easy 09 not accepting "do not cast shadow".)Auto Templates!
Did you ever wish you could apply a SketchUp material and automatically have it set up with a matching template? Now you can! Almost all the materials in SketchUp 2016 have been equipped with auto-templates (excluding things like 'Colors' ). And this extends to all previous and future versions of SketchUp where material filenames are the same. But we took it way further and provided custom bump maps for over half the materials!
If you have modified the material by applying a template, then it will not work the same as "automatic"

Hi Fletch,
Thank you for taking the time to reply to me! I have now followed your instructions and also watched the video tutorial, but I have difficulties replicating what was shown. Maybe I'm missing something obvious? Do I need to import some special set of materials into SketchUp? Or are there some differences on iOS?
I seem to have an issue that despite switching off "casting shadow" on EntityInfo and also inside the Material Editor, I still get result that are heavily infused with the Colour shown in material editor. I'm not able to achieve water transparency at all.
Here are example of some of the settings and results I'm getting:

I'm confused, your water looks correct to me.I'm not able to achieve water transparency at all.
clearly there are shadows from your edge of the pool landing on the bottom of the pool, and you are seeing through the water to the bottom of the pool. It looks pretty good to me.

It looks right to me. it seems on the second one you've given it too strong a color so it looks like colored water. I think the other thing, the bottom of the pool is too perfect white. Either way a very small amount of blue would give the right effect.
an interesting design, and the ivy looks great.
