Re: Artificial only
Thanks mate, a lot of experimentation in this one.
Any suggestion happily received. Especially the glass in those lamps.......

Re: Artificial only
If rendering with Easy 09 try the crystal glass material library I created.
note: set power to W/m2 (watts per meter squared) it defaults to "Watts" and this must be changed to get it to work correctly. Subject: Rendering time

Follow link above, and follow instructions for installation. Then choose the light bulb material in your scene and import/apply that Chandelier library material.
Then set it to be very fast rendering by turning off emittance (fake emitter) and casting or receiving of shadows or caustics.
If you set it to the following in the Deep Material Editor (Pro users only) it renders super fast and looks great in combination with the Bloom settings show.
Not shown in video below: set power to W/m2 (watts per meter squared) it defaults to "Watts" and this must be changed to get it to work correctly.
Re: Artificial only
also, build the lamp glass as real-world size/thickness

Re: Artificial only
As I said on the SketchUcation forum:
I like the model and I am sure not the sage that guys like you are but I have a couple of questions/comments:
I like the model and I am sure not the sage that guys like you are but I have a couple of questions/comments:
- Is there a light source other than the lamps?
- If the lamps are lit, should there be a shadow behind them or should there be a glow on the wall from the lamps?
- If there is not another light source (other than the lamps), are the shadows from the desk and other objects be in a different direction?
Re: Artificial only
The glass lamp models seem to be distorting too much, either rebuild the model with thinner walls (1mm is what I usually do) or change the IOR of the material from 1.52 (Glass) to something less... like 1.4? or 1.3?
I would work a lot more on the lighting - the overhead light is not making the scene attractive.
Put a light to the right and to the left off-camera, try one warmer and one colder, like cinematic lighting.
use subtle instead of strong lights and boost the exposure to get the effect you want. Get the candles looking more like candles (available in the light components for free in the Pro Resources area)
see how the lighting was approached here with side lights behind/beside the camera:
