Pulitzer Foundation - Tadao Ando
Re: Pulitzer Foundation - Tadao Ando
Looks GREAT...
Well done, Dylan...
You can easily use Sqirlz Water Reflections to add a water animation to this image...

Somebody else do it, I'm having trouble making a good size GIF.

That would defeat the point as Tadau intended it to be a reflection pool, there is no motion, the idea was to reflect light. You can easily use Sqirlz Water Reflections to add a water animation to this image...
His own words: "The central courtyard [of the Pulitzer] is covered with water, so that it is in effect an exhibition room with water for its floor and the sky for its ceiling...The sunlight, reflected and softened by the water, plays over the surfaces of the gallery. This gallery is filled, not with even light, but with a light that suggests the movement of the sun and the clouds outside, the passing of time, and the changing seasons."

Yeah - it's difficult to keep a decent quality...WardNL wrote:Somebody else do it, I'm having trouble making a good size GIF.
If we can post Flash animations here, it will be nicer...
Here's my quick attempt...
I fully understand this, but since Tadau can't control the wind blowing as well as other physics, the water won't be purely flat...Solo wrote:That would defeat the point as Tadau intended it to be a reflection pool, there is no motion, the idea was to reflect light.

True indeed, but he did make an effort to orientate it to where the wind factor would be a minimum.I fully understand this, but since Tadau can't control the wind blowing as well as other physics, the water won't be purely flat...

Alex from Germany (shura) was asking about switching careers. He is interested in architecture, and I told him that architecture is better practiced than studied. Japanese architect Tadao Ando is a perfect example, as he never took formal training in the field.

Same here! I've been working in a hotel for 5 years now, I'm bored to death! I would like to study architecture or built environment next year.Ecuadorian wrote:Alex from Germany (shura) was asking about switching careers. Anyways, I think I have read about Tadao Ando. He used to be a boxer or something like that? Respect for Mr. Ando!
