hence the title "Post Production Secret" ... "Post Production" is common with any professional CG artist/photographer ... with any professional rendering software... even if it's a simple tonal adjustment. ;)

Here's an update, where I've made some adjustments to the model and let it cook a little longer...

more I say more!! the noise in the porch troubles me!! :o sorry i know you spent long time doing PP etc just ignore me.

how long did it take to cook 420? I'm doing a similar exterior scene at moment and I'm concerned how long it'll take  and whether to go unbiased or not.

 I see what you mean - but it really doesn't disturb my eye that much...
Any way... I don't have time at the moment to visit this one, but perhaps another time...
The PP can be done in minutes, just by changing the layer... ;)

First of all, I used KT preset no. 17 - Path Tracing Progressive
(similar to TWR preset Tech > 3) Progressive > 01. Path Tracing - Progressive)
The 420 passes took app. 12 hours on an old single-core computer... :|

I was actually OK with the time it took to render, cause you need to remember that the scene contain two high-poly Xfrog trees... ;)

I understand. so what advantage is there of using this preset as opposed to twi exterior progressive for example?

they are the identical setting. ;)
one is perhaps less clicks away (if you normally have the "easy" settings expanded) and named something you can understand.
try "Animation Low+" preset on exteriors - it's quality may surprise you!
