Dynamic Component Textures

Post by 2Harry » Fri Jan 08, 2010 11:45 pm

Hello All,

I've searched the forums here for a possible answer but came up empty. So my apologies if this issue has already been covered.

I am having problems with the textures on a dynamic component chair. Here is the Sketch-up screen shot of the chair. This chair came from a dynamic component tutorial. Clicking on it with the "activity hand" cycles through 5 different wood textures. They are applied as projected textures to hold the UV layout between textures. Very slick....in Sketchup

But here is how it comes out in Twilight. It seems to lose the "projected" aspect.

I ran a quick test with two other components (not dynamic) using both regular and projected texture painting and they rendered OK which leads me to believe the dynamic nature of these components is causing problems in Twilight.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

are the textures applied to the component?
or are they applied to the geometry INSIDE the component.

textures applied to components shatter like this in my experience.

can you legally provide us the component to try it out?

The textures are applied to the faces inside the component. That's the only way the material cycling can function in a dynamic component.

The tutorial was created by Google as a self-paced tutorial so I presume the chair is public domain. I got it from 3D Warehouse.

However I get a "file is too big" message when I try to attach it here.

Thanks

OK, here it is:

...but you will have to follow the tutorial to develop the finished compomemt! ;)
