Panic is setting in! Deadline approaching and after not having used Twiight in a while, I went to render a model this afternoon and none of the applied lighting is working. Not point, spot, none of them. It's as though I did absolutely nothing. What could have gone wrong please? HELP!!!

Can you share some more details? I.e. What is the environment/setting; interior, exterior, background, Sky settings?

Can you share an image?

If you set Sky Type to "Background Color" it does not shine light onto your scene, nor is it reflected in objects.
Background Sky shines light and is reflected by objects.

Sorry Fletch, I did not understand the answer. I will go through those tutorials again, but unfortunately I don't have the time with this project which is imminent, so just for this one, I will have to use my LightUp for Sketchup which seems to be doing what I need. I do like Twilight though as I find the objects have a more realistic appearance than LightUp. Thank you.

I don't give up easily, so making a little progress, (low preset so grainy) but now a new problem! Why is the texture of the icicles not showing up in the render please? I have reversed the faces and which is usually the problem, but still I'm getting this dark rainbow background instead of the white icicles? Sigh... I wish Twilight would have some sort of webinar that one could attend to see how things really work instead of just tutorials. I would happily pay, as there is nothing quite like seeing someone actually doing what you need to learn.

Make sure you don't have reversed faces (I think you said you checked?). Then check the TWR material template applied. What template is it using?

Yes I checked faces, but genius! The template I was using was much too bright. Hard sometimes to know when you are dealing with things like glitter and sequins which template to use. For me it has always been trial and error. More error and what a trial! Thank you :)

If you share a link to the file here, we could take a look instead of guessing.

I would be terrified to show you how bad I really am. Self taught and really atrocious. I tried years and years ago to actually learn from a real teacher how to work in SU, but I signed up for classes at our local community college just to have them cancel the classes both times that I tried, due to lack of interest. Ergo - my skills are not actually worth even being called skills. Not half bad with Photoshop though, so I use some smoke and mirrors with my renders when I finish. ;)
