I have some surfaces with images mapped on them to show as reflections but I need them to not cast shadows on the scene. Setting them to not cast shadows on sketchup does not work. Is there a work around or is this wish list item?
Thanks,
SB
Turn off shadow casting
Re: Turn off shadow casting
be sure the image is exploded in SU,
then edit the material with Twilight's material tool
set the material to not cast shadow.
this method will only work for Easy render settings 1-8.

Re: Turn off shadow casting
Thanks Fletch,
I assume the progressive rendering setups wouldn't play that way. I'll see if I can figure out how to use the image as a background some other way.

Re: Turn off shadow casting
the unbiased methods (progressive) 9-11 will still cast shadows, yes.
will have to tweak position of image and sun to get it to not cast shadows.
Check out the reference section of the manual on placing background images in SketchUp.
Also, best is to eliminate it from the scene, then render the mask and insert in post-pro.
Let us know if you need help w/ that.
