Dolphus' Train

Post by d12dozr » Sat Mar 20, 2010 8:29 am

I volunteered to render one of Dolphus' locomotives from his Railway Drawing thread on SCF, because I need the practice. Train depot from the warehouse...C&C welcome :)

Really nice... :^:
I've seen the train models Dolphus have made and they're really detailed... :gj:

Adding some dirt, some vegetation and other details will add to the realism to this render...
But I'm sure Dolphus must be pleased with this result... ;)

great one!

I'm jealous... wanted to render one of those myself!
the colors seem over-saturated to be real (mainly the blue)
the image is a bit dark overall on my screen as well.
try the car glass in the Twilight Material Library>Translucents
if there's nothing in the sky/environment to reflect in the glass, try to position some of the flat tree-leaf planes from the free Twilight components in the resource section here on the forum so that they will reflect in the glass.

I have to agree with Fletch...
Just gave it a quick swirl in Adobe Lightroom, where I adjusted the white balance and tone... (hope you don't mind...!? :? )

Thanks Frederick, that is better...I suck at Photoshop so can you tell me exactly what you did?

Fletch, thanks for the ideas...I tried to fix the blue in PS afterward, maybe I should just do it in Sketchup before rendering  I'll try again and post when I'm done :) PS. all I did was ask Dolphus for the model, I'm sure he'd send it to you too!

Star - you are 100% right...maybe next time

Thanks for all the comments!

some may disagree with me... but I usually, with very saturated colors, have good luck dragging the saturation slider to about 80-85. A quick tiny prelim render will tell you.

You're very welcome... :hat:

Like you, I'm not very good with PS either...

Like I wrote, I used Adobe Lightroom, which is a standalone application...
You can download the demoversion and try it yourself...
For this particular image, all I did was auto adjusting the white balance and tone in the "Development" tab... ;)
