OK, based on the premise that anyone can ask a certain number of questions that they should already know the answer too. Here goes not much.
How do I achieve a brass texture/finish etc?
I know there is a thread where this is discussed but the thread basically says another texture was 'adjusted'. How?
How to Create a Brass or Copper Material
Re: Silly questions part deux.
start with the aluminum template, and change color.
you can paste the hex code onto the color line for the diffuse color.

I would find a photo of the brass closest to look like the render I am trying to achieve and actually render tiny tests and tweak the color to get exactly what I'm looking for.

after that starting point, I would have to render, look at lighting I'm using and color results and adjust from there.Brass rgb=#B5A642
Bright Gold rgb=#D9D919
Cool Copper rgb=#D98719
Copper rgb=#B87333
Gold rgb=#CD7F32

Thanks Fletch.
Re: Silly questions part deux.
For some reason the copper color is not working. This is what I have done so far.
1. Added an orangish color to my object from the sketch up materials
2. clicked the materials paint bucket
3. Then clicked my object and selected the aluminum template.
4. then I copied and pasted the color hex code into the color line
I am ending up with the same orange flat color.
hmmmm, Do you mind helping me?

Re: How to Create a Brass or Copper Material
OR!
just choose the Template called "Metal>Copper"
But make sure you put the copper color in the diffuse color slot for the material!

Re: How to Create a Brass or Copper Material
Thank you! I found this thread very helpful! I am working on a rendering for a 1954 GMC COE and the car builder requested seeing his wheels with a copper plating. I have attached the image. It is kinda large. Very happy with the result. I have since gone back and updated another model of a bar I am working on to show a copper counter top. I will post it soon. Still rendering
