Organic Forms
Organic Forms
Hey all,
Although I am an architect by trade, I sometimes like to dabble in the super artistic. Here are some organic "art" pieces I think came out pretty well. The Tentacle Monster was done with a HDRI Studio background and then brought into photoshop for a more "appropriate" background. The Medusa was done with a modified version of the Bauhaus Lamp test studio. I will eventually get around to posting my architectural stuff sometime down the road.

Re: Organic Forms
Awesome, just awesome (and I mean that in the original sense of the word)...
I would love to see these on full resolution. Any chance you could upload them somewhere and provide a link?
btw, we share our first name

Some say there are no stupid questions. I'm in the habit of proving those people wrong.

Phil,
Excellent images! They definitely call to mind Chihuly (easily one of my favorite artists)
the light tips of green on the second one are really nice... (check out min. 1:25 of the Chihuly video link for some lighting inspiration.)
How were these modeled?

Re: Organic Forms
Thanks guys. I actually had the honor of doing a project with a Chihuly being the center piece. Each file was completely modeled in Sketchup with a little help with the rotate and follow me and the spray component tools. Both took quite a bit of tweaking to get the look I wanted. I actually modeled the Tentacle Monster with an internal omni light hence the menacing glowing red eyes it seems to have. If I get a chance, I would like to get a website of my own up and running with these two on there in high-res someday...

Re: Organic Forms
These are great Especially the first one, great choice of background. This would make a nice print. If you've rendered it in a high resolution try taking it to one of the big box stores for printing on the Kodak machines in large format. 16x20 runs about 15.00, 20x30 around 20.00. I've done this with some of my work and it has turned out beautifully. Welcome to the forum, Phil.
