I believe it was the Smustard ruby Subdivide and Smooth that Oli used.

yes.....3 iterations of subdivide and smooth. It costs $22 but it's more than worth it. http://www.smustard.com/script/SubdivideAndSmooth

there is also a free subdivide plugin somewhere but it has more limitations.
