mattress, sheets, pillows...
mattress, sheets, pillows...
I need advices/hints/help to model and render furniture related fabrics and upholstery.
I would like to start with a mattress with sheets, maybe with pillows. Then would like to be able to sofas and others.
Can anybody suggest sketchup plugins or tutorials to do the job?
Thanks.
Jerome

Re: mattress, sheets, pillows...
Artisan is indeed great !
Another great plugin for such modelling would be tgi3Ds Amorph.
They actually work quite well together too
Curviloft, the Edge Extrude tools and many others are also very useful for such work.

I tried it when it was released. I am afraid the only thing I understood is that I dont understand
I could buy it and try to learn, but theres is not much documentation and I dont expect Twilight grade support
Thanks fletch.

tgi3d price tag is not very appealing. I will check that, thanks.bjornkn wrote:Artisan is indeed great !

Re: mattress, sheets, pillows...
Check out the Artisan "video manual" Whaat's been putting together on YouTube.
He has a "contact us" on the Artisan website, and a forum. He says the "contact us" is faster.
But - I must say - for Pillows - I would use Soap Skin Bubble. I use it also before I start work with Artisan. I find Soap Skin Bubble the best for my workflow for control.
for blankets/sheets with folds, Extrude Edges by rails is great.
Only problem with TIG's amazing plugins is he provides text documentation and no one likes to read. He'd get more glory if he'd make a vid to go along with his great plugins. Or at least a single image as an example.

Re: mattress, sheets, pillows...
Thanks again Fletch.
I just need to bite the bullet.
I guess I'll start WIP from scratch thread later this week.

Hi JeZ!
Try this:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ ... &scoring=m
Thanks to Tiago Crisostomo, this is one of the best collections in 3d warehouse,I think you will find many useful things there to help set the scene for your renderings.
Cheers!

Re: mattress, sheets, pillows...
Tgi amorph has a PLE edition without time limit - but with ploy count limit. Now for a pillow, you should not exceed that poly count anyway. Give it a try and you'll see.
As for Artisan, even I can do nice things with it (and I am not that good at this organic stuff myself)
