Living/Dining Room
Living/Dining Room
I haven't had a chance to work on any renderings lately and I'm definitely getting a little rusty. I started a WIP interior scene over the weekend for a little practice. Any criticisms/suggestions would be helpful while I work on finishing the scene/image. Materials are still in progress and the lighting needs some work. I also need to figure out what to do about the empty foreground.

Re: Living/Dining Room
Jon, it's looking really great so far. Some thoughts...I like your wall texture it feels believable. Furniture and pillows are quality, the two green vases need material attention.
First thought is the floor plank butt joints seem a little large and repetitive. The outdoor lighting looks accurate but could be more dramatic, maybe show a little
more sunlight on the floor and sofa or change the angle so the sun hits the floor/wall behind the table? The FOV seems quite strong, I'd like to see less floor & ceiling,
with more focus on the dining/living but will need extra attention toward more detail/interest. Something subtle in the foreground with DOF would help bring it together.

Re: Living/Dining Room
Thanks for your comments Rick. I changed the floor material (thanks Dan for the great texture images), and edited the sun and lighting a bit. I still need to add something in the foreground, maybe a kitchen island with stools, and add interest to the ceiling or edit the view. Anyway, here is the updated image... Any additional ideas/criticisms are appreciated.

really looking great, so far!
Maybe turning some of the interior lights on in the dark ares may add some interest? Maybe just over the artwork? (There's a nice art light in the Twilight Render Light components pack, make sure to load the IES correctly)

Re: Living/Dining Room
I can't say to much about the render itself, for me it looks very good
My only criticism would be the position of the light over the table. Usually there is a distance of 60 cm between tabletop and lightsource over the table. Here it seems to be much more and it is much to high of the table is out of scale?

WoW! Real nice.
Question: What is that low down by column? Is it an outlet?

Also don't forget people and add tidbits that you would normally find in a home, like cups, magazines, papers, cutlery etc.

Looking good.
Yes I think you do need some items in the foreground. I would also elevate the camera and angle down so you see those foreground items more and see less of the ceiling. Floor looks great
