Proper Glass for Daytime and Nightime Renders

Post by mgiambrone43 » Fri May 17, 2013 1:00 pm

Need some guidance please. I am building an entire city with many, many windows. I will be using thin architectural glass as outlined in the tutorials and other posts. I also want to use Window Shades behind the windows, like a dark green to reflect the time period. I will be using the same models to do night shots, so the Glass must be transparent as well as reflective, but the window shade must also allow some light to pass through it at night.

What would be the best material to use for the Window Shade? SSS with a Dark Green color?

During the day, if the window shade is partially up, i.e., only covering the top pane of glass, you should not be able to see the inside for the building, but, the glass should still reflect the surroundings. At night, the light from inside should still pass through the shade a little.

Sorry, I don't have a reference photo, it's in my head :)
