Hi,
I'm following a tutorial - twilight for sketchup and its version 1.5. I recently installed the trial 2.0.
In 1.5 they select an emitter light and in twilight material panel they can add an IES, but its not there in 2.0. I imagined that's what I will need to make strip lights in ceilings etc. So why does 2.0 not have this? Probably there is another way to make strips lights but I had all my bets on it being this way....
BTW I find the 1.5 user interface looks much nicer compared to the rather stiff looking boxes in 2.0.
Cheers!
Emitter light for Strip lights
Re: Emitter light for Strip lights
The IES light emitter template was removed because of it's limited usability. An IES light emitter material can be created in the Deep Material Editor (Pro only).
Re: Emitter light for Strip lights
Ok, I was not aware the trail download is not the full features version. Better see what else Im missing.....
Re: Emitter light for Strip lights
The Hobby version is not a 'trial' version. It does not expire and does not have a limitation on render size or any watermarks. It does have fewer features than Pro.

Re: Emitter light for Strip lights
Thanks for your help - so assuming I get the Pro version. Is adding Emitter light with IES the way to create strip lights.
Here's me thinking I will render my room as a trial, now I cant have my cove lights.....
Cheers

Re: Emitter light for Strip lights
It is not clear that you understand exactly what "IES lights" do. What the IES definition does is to specify the exact throw of light from a specific manufacturer's specific light fixture. So, unless you are trying to recreate a specific light fixture, you don't need PRO in order to create a "strip light", you need only a long rectangular face painted with any color and a light emitter template applied to the material. It will render as a "strip light".

Re: Emitter light for Strip lights
Thanks Fletch , very interesting info in those links. Will try it and see. I did successfully manage to do the cove light in Brighter3D it was not hard at all. Probably the Twilight tutorial I was following made things look complicated.
Re: Emitter light for Strip lights
I created this, hope it helps.
