I've just got email from Microsoft that in 29 of June i can freely download Win10. Are Sketchup 2015 & Twilight V2 work? Should i stay in Win7?

We can't answer for SketchUp, obviously. But I'm sure their answer will be the same: Yes, it will be compatible. If there are compatibility problems they will get resolved as quickly as possible. As with all OS upgrades, it's a good idea not to upgrade immediately but give it a few months to iron out the problems.

I just upgraded from Windows 8.1. As best I can tell, SketchUp 2015 and 2014 work just fine. Twilight Render also works fine (though you will need a new Activation Code after upgrading).

So far the process has been very painless. It is very similar to Win 8.1, at least the way I use it. I always use the Desktop rather than the "live tiles" so the transition back to the Desktop was perfect for me.

I haven't tried all the features of SketchUp, like the 3D warehouse, but the basics work fine.

3D Warehouse seems to work too, though I didn't try it out very rigorously.

Overall Windows 10 seems to be a pretty good mix of Windows 7 and Windows 8. The only annoyance I have so far is that if you uninstall some of the useless bloatware that Microsoft includes it gets reinstalled back on your computer with Windows Updates. I don't really like the idea of Microsoft forcing what's on your computer.

My update didn't come yet...still waiting for it. But is good to see reviews.
What kind of bloatware comes with Win10? May I ask you for some examples?
The updates that reinstall things can't be controlled, turned off only the specific ones, maybe ? - I am very much against forced software too. And I still find the free win10 a bit dubious... too good to be true. I just hope won't blow in our faces.

I say bloatware, but that's somewhat of an exaggeration. Just the standard stuff like mail, calender, solitaire, etc. All in all, though, they are pretty small apps and uninstalling them only saves a 100MB or so. Not a big deal, I just like to get rid of the clutter.

Windows 10 doesn't allow you to disable automatic updates or choose which ones to install. For 95% of the people out there, not only is this no big deal, it's probably a good thing (since those people already have automatic updates auto-installed or should). But for those of us who like to control what gets installed (like when Microsoft tried to push the Bing bar, ugh!), it's not a comfortable thought. I can live with it but I'm sure I will get annoyed.

As far as it being "free", it's only free as an upgrade to Windows 7 and 8 (does it include XP? I don't remember). So if you look at Apple, they did the same thing with 10.10. My guess is that Microsoft makes very little money off of people buying install discs. I'm sure that vast majority of it comes from OEM installs through Dell, HP, etc. So you still have to pay for the software when buying a new computer, that hasn't changed. And that makes sense; I've never once upgraded an operating system on an existing computer (until now).

There is definitely a lot of new and probably questionable stuff with Win 10, like Cortana (ie. Microsoft Siri). But to me that's junk and I just turned it all off when I upgraded. I prefer to type on my computer and talk to real people (instead of the other way around).

Oh, and they changed how swipes work for touch screens. That was the one single feature about Windows 8 that I like. Now it's useless.

Thanks Chris for this feedback. I guess I will delay my win 10 update for a bit... until first maintenance comes in and some users get angry enough to determine Microsoft to change few things (btw, I hate bing bar).
