ATMOSPHERE
ATMOSPHERE
i want to use the depth mask feature to work in atmosphere. Sometimes I want to also blur the background. It seems that the differential of depth is most marked in the foreground, with most of the background the same value (white). Can I adjust this so more of the middle ground is represented or the depth is deeper? I'd like to be able to add atmospheric effects further back in the image/ model.
Re: ATMOSPHERE
That's a good question. I know you can adjust the black to white gradient in a post-pro program like Gimp. I don't know if it can be modified in the render itself. I'll have to take a look at the render settings.
Re: ATMOSPHERE
It doesn't look like that render method offers a way to modify the depth gradient. You could fake it, I suppose, by adding geometry in the distance to stretch the depth range.
Re: ATMOSPHERE
Try adjusting the levels in Photoshop/GIMP
Re: ATMOSPHERE
Unfortunately there are no controls for the depth render pass in Kerkythea engine, so we can not add them.
However...
In Kerkythea Forum Rafa created this very well-made tutorial for creating FOG using depth render.
You can adjust the fog map by layering the grayscale z-depth render on top of itself in photoshop, and using Multiply blend layer style, or Overlay blend layer style, and after this, using the Levels slider in photoshop
for higher definition/quality depth mask... just render the depth mask at 2x final res and shrink in Pshop.

Here's before/after adjusting levels in photoshop, along with the settings.JDZYN wrote:Try adjusting the levels in Photoshop/GIMP
You can see how sliding the center point to the right, the midtones shift "further back".

Re: ATMOSPHERE
Thanks for the reply everybody. I've been busy (jury duty).
So I gather from this that:
1) the data is there. Just needs adjusting to get some more distance in the mask.
2) Higher resolution will help in this process .
3) an object in the distance will adjust the range further back. (seems an easy fix).
i''ll check the link. Thanks!
