Candy Challenge
Someone here mentioned that Twilight Render is addictive. I agree. When I read that I thought of TR as SU Candy. So, I made a piece then rendered it up. I think it came out pretty darn good if I do say so myself. The green could be a bit richer and the candy itself a bit more opaque (a bit) but all in all I am impressed with myself... er with what TR is able to allow me to produce
I thought this might be a nice challenge for others to do. I would love to figure out how to make it look like a sour gummy. Mmmmmm.
So I will upload the stripped model if you want it and my settings. Please do the same along with any textures and goodies you are allowed to share. Only upload freebies please.
Maybe we could learn some more techniques. That or we are just playing with our food.
To bump the color I used plasma1.jpg for the bumpmap. And because you cannot bump a color I used the technique laid out by Miguel here:
http://twilightrender.com/phpBB3/viewto ... 2083#p2083
I don’t remember where I got the HDRI.
Edit: I used the MLT(BPT) preset. It ran for 2 1/2 hours on a quad core.

And here is the TR Candy model stripped of everything.

- Note that the model is very large in physical size. I did this so I would not get any artifacts or missing triangulation due to the rounded edges.
It is so big it could be a single person dwelling.... Mmmmm candy. - (340.99 KiB) Downloaded 495 times

Re: Candy Challenge
Thank you, Eric! It's always nice to see so much goodwill in this forum.
Re: Candy Challenge
Really nice!
I would only change the background (it looks like its on the floor) or just put them in a bowl.
man i wish i had more time for TL.

Re: Candy Challenge
work, Eric... wish I, myself, had time to 'play'... I have an idea where to go with this.
If you want the logo, PM me and we may provide it at our discretion, but as we've already had trouble with people stealing it, changing it, and re-branding it to re-sell in their country, well, you'll understand if we don't feel safe posting it for just anyone.

Re: Candy Challenge
Hi, Good idea...
Here is my render, I don't want to imagine the taste of this candy... Maybe very synthetic...
I have used the plexiglas preset...

I thought you can add bump to any colour? I'm confusedBoofredlay wrote: And because you cannot bump a color I used the technique laid out by Miguel here:

Oli
Re: Candy Challenge
Hi Oli, yes, what you show is the exact same thing. The words "can't bump a color" were probably not exactly 'accurate'. should be something like "can't bump a color without applying a texture map first."
Re: Candy Challenge
I ran a quick render but noticed the bump did not work out!
I will go back and check that out with another try.
