The bump maps look good facing a surface but the thing that troubles me is that when the surface is oblique to the camera we don't see the bumps. The edge is a staight line. Any chance that TW will get a true bump feature? I've seen it in finalRender.

Any techniques in post-processing that can replace the edge bumps that we should see?

I use the stamp and smudge tools in Pshop.
