Board issue: any chance of adding...

...a "new topics" link to the top of the individual thread pages? (Then after I post a reply I won't have to go back to the board index to find it :`)

I second that. The "new posts" link is only visible when you go to the Board index.

I suspect it will require modifying the phpbb3 template. Being less than a novice at that, I'll look into it but no guarantees.
