I think he refers to the "Sunlight" slider, which actually controls Shadow softness. To activate it, first check the "Soft (Blurry) Shadows" box.

I like the shadows better and now I think I know how that panel works.

It gets even better if you have a look at the "Alternative AA" presets folder...
