Why No Shadows ? [RESOLVED - Sun Power set to 0]
Why No Shadows ? [RESOLVED - Sun Power set to 0]
HI, I'm new to Twilight and still using the Demo version to render an old file I have on hand.
My question is why doesn't any Shadows show up? in this file I did a New file and just made a box with shadows and that one rendered OK with the shadows but not this old file.
I'm stumped at what other settings I need to adjust because I think I did everything to make sure shadows are on.
Is there somewhere else in Twilight that I might have missed ?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Nik

Re: Why No Shadows ?
You have set "Maximum sun intensity" to zero, and thus there is no sunlight at all to cast any shadow. Change it to a value between 2 and 5.
Oh, and welcome!
Oh, and welcome!
Got some Shadows! But sun too Bright.
Thanks Miguel !
I've set a higher Max Sun Intensity and got some shadows! now I'll have to play with the brightness setting to get what I want without washing out the shadows.
Again, thanks for your help!

Re: Why No Shadows ?
Yup, I see you got it right:
For darker shadows, rise Sun Intensity and lower Sky Brightness
For lighter shadows, do the opposite.

Please, please, please watch the video tutorials!
Please do not attempt to adjust the sun or sky when you do not know what you are doing yet... they are set correctly the moment you open Twilight for the first time.
After you learn the rules, you will be free to break them...
Please, to adjust the exposure of your image use the Camera tab in the render dialog and find the exposure control... feel free to play with that all you like while rendering. but I suggest leaving them alone as well, and if you need to slightly adjust the tones of your image, save the image, and use an external photo editor...

I finally got some sunshine into the apartment! Now I'm going to test out other features and setup of Twilight to see how things can look.

The "sunlight" slider controls the softness of sun shadows. This interior would look better with slightly softer shadows, in my opinion.
I like the general layout of the place; looks cozy and compact.

Yes, I got Blurry shadows this time....
But how to blurry shadow from a light emitter (dining area hanging ceiling light bulb) ? Will investigate this.
And no slider to control blurriness of shadows in TR lights.

For lights, soft shadow is controlled by the light "radius" setting. Bigger radius = Softer shadow
