What different stone work have you considered?
Have you considered something other than stone on the fireplace?

In Montana we have tons of shale - it's all got a red tint to it... hence why many things are called "Red Rock Cafe" etc. Where are you? What color of shale?
I have a stacked slate texture that you may be able to tweak.

Hey Rocky
Just joined this Twilight community and glad to see a friend or thirty already very active here. Your kitchen / dining / living render is really coming on - very PR and I hope to one day emulate this level of quality.
