Old Factory

Post by Chris » Mon Nov 09, 2009 3:54 am

Interior +, 24 hours
The leaves and chains were "positioned" by dropping them in SketchyPhysics (it was fun to drop them too quickly and watch the chains explode  ).
The chains are far too simplified for my taste, but they worked really well with SP, where something more complicated may not have.

I may add more leaves or something... we'll see.

Great image Chris. :rspkt:

The chains, could you make each link a component, simple like you have, drop them with SP then edit them by running Subdivide & Smooth or Round Corners?

I have always placed things like this rather than using SP. Maybe I need to use it more.

Very cool! How 'bout some dust with some scuffles in it?

This is cool, Chris. I like the composition a lot. Very poetic compared to the stuff we architects do.

Interesting scene and great use of SP! Perhasp some day, SP do have fluid dynamics and you can made that fan to blow leaves and swing those chains.

Such a nice tone! :)
It's a pity the resolution weren't much bigger.

I've never really used either of those, but it might be a good choice. I might look for a way to make each link a component and then "replace" the component definition with a new one. That way all the scale and position should be the same and it should look natural...

More dirt and debris would be good too... not sure on the best way to dirty it up (other than the textures of course).

Thanks. :)

Primarily, the lighting is a single quad emitter outside the wall, shining through a grate and the fan. That's most of the lighting. I added an HDR but reduced the intensity to 0.05 just to add a little bit more light everywhere. The exposure is cranked way up, 2.0 (which for me is way up ;) ).
